Welcome Letter:

Dear Parents and Friends,

Since August 2005, the Merakey Education and Autism Centers have been serving our communities by offering the most advanced educational opportunities helping children with special needs learn based on their individual abilities, not their disabilities. Our students, parents, teachers, supporters, and friends are all important parts of this community. Through the dedication of all involved, our dream has grown to 18 schools across the state of Pennsylvania.

The Merakey Education and Autism Centers offer a blend of quality behavioral health services with resilient education techniques to children affected by Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), Pervasive Developmental Disorder (NOS), and Asperger's Syndrome. As the rate of prevalence and demand for services has increased, Merakey has been dedicated to improving its expertise and expanding the range of services provided to include students with Emotional Support (ES) needs.

Our Emotional Support classrooms encourage students who may be struggling with severe behaviors that are negatively affecting them in the traditional educational setting. We collaborate with our families to integrate a blended delivery of behavioral and educational framework. Our goal is to increase each child's community engagement focusing on the achievement of social skills, life skills, and pro-social behaviors. The success of our students is demonstrated through personal growth and the development of peer relationships.

Each year our schools work hard to create opportunities to strengthen ties with our community. Last year, students participated in the Special Olympics, and they raised funds and awareness for multiple charities including Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, Operation Support Our Soldiers, the Humane Society, the Salvation Army and numerous food pantries. I am very proud that so many of our students have been able to give back to their neighborhoods by supporting local fundraising efforts and creating their own fundraising initiatives to support local families and charities in need.

We continually work to enhance the Merakey continuum of care by developing programs that are individualized to reflect and respect each young life we support.

Sincerely,
Karen Markle

About Merakey Education and Autism Centers:

The Merakey Education and Autism Centers strive to meet the unique needs of children and adolescents by enhancing their social and emotional ability. With a proven history of collaboration with students, families, and public school districts, Merakey has developed a range of educational services that blend behavioral and emotional therapies in a learning environment.

Merakey has built a continuum of care throughout the state of Pennsylvania by providing educational services which include licensed private academic schools, in-district classrooms, consultation services, training programs and transition services. Merakey provides caring support focusing on the individual's needs using evidence-based programming. Our strengths-based educational programs service two distinct populations: individuals with an Autism Spectrum Disorder and individuals with Emotional Support needs. Merakey has expanded the available school locations to provide services across 18 campuses throughout Pennsylvania.

Merakey provides services regardless of race, sex, color, national origin, ancestry, religious creed, disability, age, or limited English proficiency.
